Drawing since childhood, I have enjoyed “escaping” into my work and every finished piece (that I’m happy with) still leaves me in amazement of the final result. In this age of technology, the computer has enabled us to do many things with a photograph; however, I still practice the “old fashioned” way of drawing—with pencil and paper! As an artist, I strive to capture the life, personality, and inner beauty of the subject I am drawing instead of just copying a photograph.
Having graduated from Syracuse University with a BFA in Graphic Design/Illustration, I’ve worked as a graphic designer for over 30 years, but have continued to draw, originally working with graphite pencil and over time, exploring more with colored pencil and other mediums. I love to draw detail and a variety of images, and have always found portraits to be an exciting challenge. Whether human or animal, they all offer their own uniqueness and being able to capture that “recognizable image” is a great accomplishment. I am thrilled to have many of my commissioned pieces hanging on walls across the country.
Living in New Hampshire with my husband, Steve, and family, I am surrounded by natural beauty, which encourages my creative exploration. I continue to advance my career as a designer and artist, and offer art instruction to children and adults. Over the past few years, I have been increasingly involved in offering children’s art classes and paint nights, and have enjoyed being able to share my love of art with others.
